Bottom up Adaptation Strategies for a Sustainable Europe

BASE at the launch of the EUs Global Climate Change Alliance+

Dr. Hans Sanderson (BASE Project Coordinator)

Project coordinator Dr. Hans Sanderson presented BASE research and activities at the launch of the European Union's Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) on 29th October 2015. The GCCA is  the EUs largest initiative to combat climate change in the world’s poorest and most vulnerable places, notably the group of Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States. The GCCA+ is a flagship initiative and successor of the GCCA and will allocate around €350 million over a seven-year period (2014-2020) – in addition to private and national public investments.

Dr. Sanderson's presentation focused on the use of bottom-up and participatory methods in adaptation case studies. It included detailed examples of participatory methods employed in BASE case studies in Vietnam, Cuba, Portugal and Czech Republic.
